What impact will Coronavirus have on the 2020 Welsh National Wedding Awards.
We appreciate that 2020 has been an incredibly difficult time for many couples and wedding business’ alike, but despite this, we still feel our industry has so much still to celebrate. Taking into account the many cancellation and postponement of weddings we are implementing the following changes for 2020 only:
•Voting timescales. In order to open up the voting system, weddings will be counted which have taken place for the last 5 years, allowing business growth to be seen despite the number of weddings postponed and cancelled in 2020.
•Number of weddings. The application forms have been amended to include a section for weddings booked for 2020 plus weddings conducted so far. This will ensure that no business is penalised for lack of conducted weddings in 2020.
•Weddings not yet conducted – please still encourage brides and grooms to vote for you if their wedding should already have taken place. Please ensure they clearly state that the wedding hasn’t taken place, but include details such as customer service, communication throughout postponement etc.
•New categories. We have added additional categories to shine a light on those that have gone above and beyond in these unprecedented times. Categories include:
-’My Wedding Hero’’, This category is to highlight an individual in an organisation that has really gone above and behind to steer you through issues affecting your wedding caused by Covid-19. Someone who has been helpful, supportive and a calming voice.
-‘Customer service Excellence’ – This category is to highlight a company or organisation that has offered unparalleled and excellent customer service while dealing with any issues surrounding your wedding caused by Covid-19.
-‘Creative excellence’’. This category is designed to highlight a business that has changed or diversified their business model in 2020, due to issues caused by Covid-19.
•Closing date. We have extended the closing date for entries until 30th of September to allow for as many rescheduled weddings as possible.
Who can vote?
We want to hear primarily from brides and grooms. We will also accept nominations from members of the bridal party, though we will ask for further information, including married couples names, date of wedding, location and may be subject to further vetting. Votes are only accepted to wedding that have already been conducted and in the last 5 years.
How many times can I vote?
You have an unlimited number of votes across categories i.e you can vote in as many categories as you wish, though multiple votes for the SAME company in the SAME category will only be counted as one vote.
Surely people can make up names and vote as many times as they want for themselves?
We have a thorough vetting process in place. Our system also allows us to recognise multiple entrees from any single IP address. It's also important to note that winners are NOT decided upon vote number alone.
How are companies shortlisted?
Companies are shortlisted based on the number of votes they receive i.e the top five companies with the most votes, that have met our criteria will be shortlisted. This is the first stage of the process. The voting scores from your clients will the be divided by the number of weddings conducted to make an even playing field for all businesses. The top 5 companies from each category (if enough companies enter) and region will then be collaborated and past for further verification based on service, product quality, value for money and commitment to wedding.
What does a company need to do to be part of the WNWA's?
Drum up votes! You will be required to complete an online company registration form to be part of the first stage process, the registration form is irrelevant to the number of votes you have received - this is simply your confirmation that you are happy to be entered into the 2019 Wedding Awards. You don't need to complete this to start generating votes, it just needs to be completed prior to votes closing on Friday 30th August. Should your company not meet with the minimum requirements detailed below, the next company with the highest number of votes will be auto-listed.
How are winners chosen from the shortlisted businesses?
Along with vote number, feedback is asked for and is scored across product quality, customer service and value for money. We also conduct mystery shops, calls and so forth. All of this information is then collaborated and the information is verified. Don't forget your judges are YOUR clients, the scoring and feedback given on all parts of the voting systems make up the information which leads to the winners in each category.
Company Entry Criteria
Other then the new business category all companies must have been established for a minimum of 12 months, and must have conducted a minimum of 10 weddings. It is assumed that all companies are acting legally - failiure to trade legally may result in disqualification. We do reserve the right to remove a category in any region should we not receive enough business nominations / votes for the category to be put forward for judging.
